  1. 11 000 euro for AH-cutlery
Albert Heijn has regular activities where you have to remarkably save stamps or pay extra for promotional products such as a set of wine glasses, pans or discount on restaurant dinners. However, the latest action exceeds all: 11 000 euro on groceries and € 120.74 to pay extra for a set of cutlery.

Tamara Jooren noticed the particularly expensive action. "It costs almost 100 euros per day, but luckily you have until February still time to save the supermarket stamps."

She and many other Albert Heijn customers wonder whether even one family is able to get eventually the full set of cutlery in possession through this campaign. "Luckily, we have the first two stamps already," jokes Tamara on the Facebook page of Albert Heijn. The Spokeswoman of the supermarket, Els van Dijk, reacts to the facebook message: “The retail value of the luxury specification is higher than previous actions. So you save a little longer and therefore the action lasts four weeks longer than other saving actions".

    Criticism on social media
After all the criticism of social media, however, the supermarket is in no need to adjust the savings campaign. “We have weekly specials where you get an extra collectible stamp and we see that many customers call their friends and family to save them".

Although many people react to the news of Tamara, Albert Heijn himself will not comment on the Facebook message. Van Dijk says: ”We have seen comments on the Facebook page, but in this case we decided not to respond. We read a lot of advice and good suggestions from our customers about this, so a response from Albert Heijn has no added value in this case”.

First of all, what do you think about the saving campaign of Albert Heijn. And in addition of the reaction of them on the criticism they get on the social media pages? Do you think that Albert Heijn should listen to their stakeholders or just stick up with their original plan even if this is not really positive for the company.

  1. I think Albert Heijn should stick up with their original plan. As a customer, you still have to do your groceries, with or without receiving stamps. You will spend the same amount of money. So when you receive a stamp, you can see it as an extra 'bonus'. So I think Albert Heijn did the right thing.

  2. My roommate actually did his shopping at a DEEN supermarket yesterday because he felt betrayed by Albert Heijn because of this campaign. So in my opinion they should reconsider it. Instead of providing them with positive PR and extra client loyalty, this campaign is providing them with the opposite.
